D.C. police officer’s dance moves gain popularity online

WASHINGTON 鈥斅燚.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier calls one of her officers the latest dancing sensation after her dance moves were captured on video and posted online.

It wasn’t long after Officer Ashley Keels showed off her dance moves at a Soul Giving event sponsored by former Redskin Clinton Portis’s Two聽6聽Foundation that the video went viral online.

“It’s called the ‘Bet you can’t do it like me’ dance. It’s the newest dance, kinda like whip and ney ney,” says Keels.

The six-year police veteran says she bowed out of the kids’ dance competition early, but is glad she was able to connect with them.

“I think that by me dancing with the kids, the 5-year-old dancing today is the 15-year-old that will give you respect tomorrow,” she says.

This is the second D.C. police officer to give new meaning to “beat cop” in weeks: In late October, a officer challenged — and won —. That video when viral as well.
