Car crash on US 50 kills 1, traffic jammed over two hours

A single car crash killed one person and temporarily closed off traffic on both directions of U.S. Route 50 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, Tuesday night.

The crash happened around 9:15 p.m. said their preliminary investigation indicates a red Nissan drove off the road near the Interstate 97 exit ramp in Annapolis.

Police said that the person who died “has not been positively identified at this time.”

Police said one person was ejected from the Sentra. Two others were transported to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

All westbound lanes reopened before 10:30 p.m. after the helicopter left the scene.

The 91欧美激情 Traffic Center reported that two eastbound lanes reopened to traffic after 11:30 p.m. Drivers also diverted to Maryland Route 424 at Davidsonville Road to drive past the accident. All eastbound lanes were fully reopened at around 12:30 a.m.

Police remained at the scene into the early morning hours.

The cause and contributing factors are still under investigation.
