Herndon software company Deltek acquired for $2.8 billion

WASHINGTON聽鈥斅燞erndon, Virginia-based software maker Deltek will be acquired by Florida-based Roper Technologies Inc. for $2.8 billion.

Deltek is one of the biggest makers of enterprise software for government contractors. It was founded in 1982 and has about 2,400 employees companywide, 580 of them in the Washington region.

Deltek was acquired in 2012 by private equity firm Thoma Bravo for $1.1 billion.

Roper has $2.6 billion in annual revenue.

In a news release, Roper said it expects Deltek to add $535 million in sales in 2017.

“Deltek offers everything we look for in a Roper company 鈥斅燼 specialized focus, innovative products, loyal customers and a talented team,” Roper CEO Brian Jellison said in a statement.

Deltek will operate as a distinct company within Roper. Its name, brand and office locations will not change, nor will its workforce, the company said.

Deltek and Roper expect the acquisition to close before the end of the year.
