Metro apologizes to riders in new advertisement

WASHINGTON — Metro鈥檚 leaders will issue an apology Sunday for last Monday鈥檚 deadly smoke incident at L鈥橢nfant Plaza.

In the letter to riders obtained 91欧美激情, Metro Board Chairman Tom Downs and Interim General Manager Jack Requa write that 鈥渙ur safety work is not complete; it will never be.鈥

The letter begins with an apology to the family of the 61-year-old grandmother from Alexandria killed in the incident, and the others on board the smoke-filled train.

鈥淲e apologize to all Metro riders, and particularly to the family of Carol Glover and those injured or impacted by the events of Monday afternoon,鈥 the letter says.

鈥淲e know that we have to redouble our efforts to lean from this and take every step necessary to make sure it doesn鈥檛 happen again,鈥 the letter continues.
