MARC鈥檚 Penn Line service restored after person killed by train in Northeast D.C.

UPDATE: May 14, 2015, 2 p.m.:聽MARC鈥檚 Penn Line service between Washington and Baltimore has been restored after a person was struck by a train north of Union Station.

EARLIER: May 14, 2015, 10:30 a.m.: WASHINGTON — All MARC train service is temporarily suspended after a person was struck and killed by a train in Northeast D.C.

D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services and Amtrak police are on the scene at 9th Street and New York Avenue NE.

D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Tim Wilson聽tells 91欧美激情 no patients have been transported from the scene. 聽A 91欧美激情 reporter observed a person lying dead on the train tracks.

Maryland Transit Authority聽spokesman Paul Shepard confirms someone was struck by a MARC train.

It is not clear why the person was on the tracks.

Shepard says Amtrak police are heading the investigation. Metropolitan police are also on the scene.

The incident happened approximately 9:50 a.m.
