WASHINGTON 鈥� Federal and local investigators are looking into an unconfirmed threat of violence against students at Howard University.
, Howard University President Wayne Frederick says in an abundance of caution, the university has聽increased security on campus and at area Metro stations.
The threat against black students referenced racial threats made at the University of Missouri and was first posted on an online message board called 4Chan.
The site, which is the birthplace of hacking collective Anonymous, is known to be dominated by聽people who harass on the Internet.
The threat mentions violence taking place at the university at 10 a.m., but no violence has been reported.
During the ongoing investigation, Frederick asks in the statement that students and neighboring businesses be vigilant.
