Someone stole a 3-month-old female, brown tabby kitten named Princess Jazzy from the Washington Humane Society-Washington Animal Rescue League Adoption Center on New York Avenue in Northeast Saturday afternoon.

WHS/WARL Chief Community Welfare Officer Scott Giacoppo said it鈥檚 difficult to believe someone would steal a kitten.

鈥淚n addition to breaking the law, they have put this kitten鈥檚 health in jeopardy by circumventing our easy adoption process, and denying the kitten needed medical care,鈥 Giacoppo said in a news release.

The kitten still needs to undergo all the medical procedures that go into the adoption process, WHS/WARL Director of Communications said in a news release. The owners need to fully understand the kitten鈥檚 needs as well, he added.

WHS/WARL is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the theft. Anyone with information can call 202-576-6664.
