WASHINGTON 鈥� Uber has agreed to pay D.C. a $160,000 fine and contribute nearly $250,000 more to specific projects as part of an agreement to resolve what the city calls 鈥渓egacy ride-sharing regulatory compliance issues.鈥�
Like in other cities, Uber began operating in the District with no legal framework in place for the service.
鈥淎s part of the agreement, Uber will contribute $25,000 to increase access to wheelchair accessible transportation services and $240,000 to help reduce costs and encourage more shared rides on uberPOOL to and from DC metro stations,鈥� the Department of For-Hire Vehicles said in a statement to 91欧美激情.
That is in addition to the $160,000 that will be paid essentially as a fine to resolve the outstanding citations.
