After bus issues, Prince George’s schools order dismissal reviews

WASHINGTON — After , all Prince George’s County public school principals will review dismissal procedures with their respective staff members.

Bus drivers and transportation staffers had a new review of protocols to make sure students get on the right buses and off at the right stops.聽County schools spokeswoman Sherrie Johnson said the aim of reviewing the policies is to prevent any such mishaps going forward.

The school system runs about 1,200 buses that transport more than 80,000 students each day on more than 5,447 routes. The parents of at least four students say their children had significant bus issues this week.

One bus driver got lost, but didn’t tell anyone, so a 3-year-old was dropped off nearly two hours late.聽The driver was reprimanded.

Two of the other cases, including one where a mother says her 5-year-old was dropped off without a responsible adult present. That violates school policy. The incident is being investigated.
