WASHINGTON 鈥 Washington yogis will soon have a high-up space to practice their downward dogs.

, a Capitol Hill studio that opened in March, will start holding evening classes on its roof deck starting Monday, Aug. 24. The new space, which is D.C.鈥檚 first rooftop yoga studio, accommodates 25 students and includes an herb, vegetable and flower garden.

East Side Yoga owner and instructor Alia Khan says the quiet outdoor environment has a 鈥渞etreat-like effect鈥 that鈥檚 meant to help students let go of daily stress.

Rooftop classes will be offered daily, Monday-Thursday at 7 p.m., with a special Sunset Flow class each Sunday at 6:30 p.m. and musically-themed Friday Yoga Happy Hour classes every other Friday. Visit for more information.
