WASHINGTON – A push to deliver is prompting Maryland’s Motor Vehicle Administration to keep its call center open later – until 5:30 p.m. on weekdays.
鈥淭his expansion will give citizens more access to MVA services and information at a time that is more convenient for many hardworking Marylanders鈥 busy schedules,鈥 Gov. Larry Hogan said in a statement. 鈥淥ur administration is committed to making state government work for the people 鈥 not the other way around.鈥
The extra hour of weekday service comes with no expansion of staff and at no additional cost to taxpayers, the statement said.
On average, 6,600 people call Maryland鈥檚 MVA daily during normal business hours. A recent evaluation of off-hour calls to the MVA revealed the highest number of unsuccessful attempts happened between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Weekday call center hours now are 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
To talk with a MVA agent, call 410-768-7000 or take advantage of online services at the MVA website
