WASHINGTON — A Rockville, Maryland, judge has denied a motion to dismiss the charges against a Montgomery County mother arrested last year in the disappearance of her two young children. 聽
At a hearing on Monday, defense attorney David Felsen filed the motion on behalf of Catherine Hoggle. Her children, Sarah and Jacob, vanished in 2014. Hoggle has said the children are safe, but refuses to say where they are.
Hoggle is charged with two counts of child neglect, two counts of parental abduction and one count of obstructing justice. She is undergoing treatment at the Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center in Jessup, Maryland.
Hoggle had been deemed incompetent to stand trial. On Monday, the judge set a new competence hearing for 9 a.m., Feb. 22 in Montgomery County District Court. Hoggle鈥檚 last competence hearing was held in September.
The children鈥檚 father, Troy Turner, said Nov. 20 would鈥檝e been Sarah鈥檚 fifth birthday. He鈥檚 continued to look for her and Jacob since their disappearance.
