NEW YORK (AP) 鈥 Claims by Jeffrey Epstein鈥檚 former girlfriend and longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell that her sex trafficking conviction was a 鈥渃omplete miscarriage of justice鈥 were rejected Tuesday by a federal judge who said her assertions were based on 鈥渟peculation, distortions, and/or outright falsehoods.鈥
Judge Paul A. Engelmayer said in a written ruling that Maxwell鈥檚 habeas petition seeking to set aside her conviction and free her from a on the grounds that there was 鈥渟ubstantial new evidence鈥 was 鈥渄emonstrably meritless.鈥
鈥淢axwell鈥檚 petition falls very far from the mark,鈥 Engelmayer said. 鈥淭here is no fact that Maxwell fairly puts in dispute that has any potential to disturb the outcome of her trial.鈥
