Land dispute at Butler’s Orchard resolved

WASHINGTON – A land dispute has been resolved and people are now able to pick apples at the popular Butler’s Orchard in Germantown.

The apple picking because the apple trees are on land owned by Todd Butler, a brother who died in 2010 in an accident on the farm.

Wade Butler, co-owner of Butler’s Orchard, says a lot of changes must occur when a business partner dies.

“When a business partner is also a family member, it sometimes takes longer than we like to work through all the complexities,” Butler says. “This is what happened last week.”

Butler says the orchard is glad to have worked through the issue and the Butler family is delighted by their apple crop, which they say is wonderful for picking.

“Butler’s Orchard has been operating for over 60 years,” he says. “With the third generation on board, our future looks very bright.”
