STAFFORD, Va. – Fancy cars, motorcycles and vintage aircraft took over Stafford Regional Airport for the 8th annual “Wings and Wheels Festival” Saturday.

Pilots from around the area flew into the airport to display their vintage aircrafts.

Bob Dorminey flew in from Warrenton, Va. in his 1957 Piper. “I came here to show off my 55-year-old airplane,” he says.

In addition to vintage aircraft, there were military and civilian-owned aircraft on display as well as a car and motorcycle show.

Jonathan Weidemann, who was visiting from outside of Philadelphia, watched the motorcycle daredevils as they popped wheelies and sped down the runway.

“Crazy,” he says, “I hope they don’t do that on the on highway.”

Roy Dotson of Radio Active Air Shows put on a radio-controlled aircraft demonstration. He says the radio-controlled aircraft can cost anywhere from $3,000 to $10,000.

Kat Kammer, past president of the Stafford Rotary Club, said Wings and Wheels is the club’s major fundraiser of the year.

The money raised from the event goes toward scholarships for graduating high school seniors and is used to give a free dictionary to every third grader in Stafford County.
