Speed limit increases on the ICC

WASHINGTON – Drivers can go a little faster on the Intercounty Connector now.

Starting Saturday, the speed limit signs will change from 55 to 60 miles per hour in both directions, meaning drivers will save about 90 seconds per trip.

The highway was designed for cars to travel 60 miles per hour, but the Maryland Transportation Authority needed a year to test it.

Engineers studied car crashes on the ICC and found that bumping up the speed limit would not increase the safety risk. Crews also added new warning signs for curves.

The speed limit change comes shortly after 91欧美激情’s Ari Ashe that nearly 7,000 speeding tickets have been issued since the ICC opened, according to documents obtained 91欧美激情.
