Local leader to run Boston Marathon

WASHINGTON — Prince George’s County Executive Rushern Baker says that he is running another type of race – the Boston Marathon on Monday.

It will be his first time running a marathon.  Baker says he has been practicing and will run the marathon with police and fire cadets from the county. He picked Boston as an opportunity and symbol to stand up against terror after the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings and  “to show the world that we’re not going to cut back on things that we do.”

His family will also be there to cheer him on for race day. “They’re all exicited and worried about me at the same time,” Baker says.

He says the goal is simple on Monday: “To finish!”
