Police chief regrets not reaching Md. gunman sooner

WASHINGTON 鈥 The Prince聽George’s County police chief said he has regret about how an investigative tactic may have affected the outcome of a two-day shooting rampage spanning two counties.

On Thursday, May 5, Prince George’s County officers and found 44-year-old聽Gladys Tordil with a gunshot wound. Surveillance video showed聽her estranged husband, 62-year-old聽Eulalio Tordil leaving the parking lot.

Knowing Tordil, a federal officer, had police experience changed the investigation, Prince George’s County Police Chief聽Hank Stawinski said.

“We knew that if he knew we had identified that vehicle, then he would leave that vehicle. At that point we didn’t have a direct route to finding him,” Stawinski said on 91欧美激情 Channel 8.

However the next morning,聽 prosecutors say Tordil drove that car , killing two people and wounding others.

“My deepest regret聽is聽that we didn鈥檛 get him in that vehicle before he聽was able to harm other people,” Stawinski said on 91欧美激情 Channel 8.
