WASHINGTON 鈥� Metro riders can stay connected while underground聽with the addition of free Wi-Fi at even more stations beginning Thursday.
Free Wi-Fi service has been added聽to聽24聽underground stations, making for a total of 30 stations that have Wi-Fi accessibility.
Stations where free Wi-Fi was added Thursday include: Farragut North, Dupont Circle, Cleveland Park, Van Ness-UDC, Tenleytown-AU, Friendship Heights, Bethesda, Medical Center, Forest Glen, Wheaton, Glenmont, McPherson Square, Farragut West, Foggy Bottom-GWU, Rosslyn, Crystal City, Smithsonian, Mt. Vernon Square, Columbia Heights, Waterfront, Navy Yard-Ballpark, Anacostia, Court House and Clarendon.
The聽additions聽come after six stations got Wi-Fi in April: Metro Center, Gallery Place, L’Enfant Plaza, Judiciary Square, Union Station and Archives.
The remaining underground stations will get Wi-Fi by mid-2018, Metro said in a news release.
There is already聽cellular service at all Metro stations, and聽wireless voice and data service is available in underground tunnel segments on the Red Line from Glenmont to Silver Spring and on the Orange, Silver and Blue lines from Metro Center to Stadium-Armory.聽The transit agency is working to add cell service to all tunnel segments.
