Holtby selected to the NHL All-Star Game

WASHINGTON — Washington Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby has been selected to play in the 2018 NHL All-Star Game on Sunday, Jan. 28 in Tampa Bay, the NHL announced Wednesday.

Holtby is 24-8-0 in 32 games for the Capitals this season, which ranks him second in the league in wins. Holtby has a 2.68 goals-against average, a .917 save percentage, and became the second-fastest player to 200 career victories earlier this season.

This is Holtby’s third straight All-Star selection, a franchise record among goaltenders.

Holtby joins fellow Capitals Alex Ovechkin and Barry Trotz on the Metropolitan Division squad.

Ovechkin set a franchise record with this ninth All-Star selection and Trotz is coaching the game for the second time in three years.
