THURSDAY EVENING:
Gradual clearing
Temperatures: 60s to 50s
Winds: Northwest 10-15 mph
Conditions turn calm and quiet this evening with clearing skies continuing. Temperatures fall steadily through the 60s and into the 50s with a light northwest wind easing.
THURSDAY NIGHT:
Mainly clear
Lows: 38-46
Winds: Light
Mainly clear and chilly overnight with lows dropping into the mid 40s in the metro, and colder west of the Blue Ridge. Frost advisories and freeze warnings are in effect from midnight through early Friday morning for western Maryland and nearby higher elevations. Those areas could see temperatures dip into the 30s, allowing frost and even a light freeze to develop. Winds become light, which supports that colder setup. The moon reaches 100% illumination Friday.
FRIDAY:
Partly sunny. Evening rain chance
Highs: 65-70
Winds: Northwest 5-10 mph
Friday brings a mix of sun and clouds with below average temperatures continuing. Highs reach the mid to upper 60s. A few afternoon showers develop, mainly south and east of Washington, with a light west wind. The day starts chilly, especially in the outlying and elevated areas where frost may linger early.
SATURDAY:
Mostly cloudy. Stray AM showers
Highs: 55-60
Winds: Northwest 10-15 mph
Clouds increase with a cool feel sticking around. Highs hover near 60 degrees with a chance of rain, especially as a system develops to the south. Coverage is still somewhat uncertain, but expect more clouds than sun and a few periods of light rain. Saturday night stays mostly cloudy with another chance for a few showers early morning.
SUNDAY:
Partly to mostly sunny
Highs: around 65
Winds: Southeast 5-10 mph
Sunshine returns and it turns into the nicest day of the weekend. High temperatures climb into the lower 60s with dry conditions and lighter winds. It is still on the cool side for early May, but a gradual warming trend begins heading into early next week.
