Tickets on sale this week to John Oliver at Kennedy Center

WASHINGTON — You know him as Jon Stewart’s former correspondent on “The Daily Show” and the host of his own HBO spin-off “Last Week Tonight.”

Now, John Oliver takes his聽stand-up show to the Kennedy Center Concert Hall stage for the first time with three consecutive shows聽from Thursday, Aug. 25 to Saturday, Aug. 27, each at 7 p.m.

Tickets start at $59 and go on sale to Kennedy Center Members on Thursday, Feb. 18. They go on sale聽to the general public on Friday, Feb. 19.

Oliver is an Emmy-winning writer whose聽HBO show聽presents a satirical look at the week in news, politics and current events to an audience averaging more than four million viewers weekly.

The show started its third season in February, but during聽occasional breaks from the TV desk, Oliver returns to his first love of stand-up and performs at sold-out venues around the world.

From 2006 to 2013, Oliver was a correspondent and guest host on the multi-award-winning “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,”聽guest-hosting the show for two months during Stewart鈥檚 absence in 2013. In 2008, he starred in his first Comedy Central special, “John Oliver: Terrifying Times.”

Following its success, Oliver went on to host four seasons of his own stand-up series for Comedy Central,聽“John Oliver鈥檚 New York Stand Up Show.”
