Today’s the day to wing it — National Chicken Wing Day arrives

WASHINGTON — You probably don’t need an excuse to eat chicken wings, but regardless — today’s the day.

July 29 is , and several places across the area are offering deals:

  • Spectators at the chicken-wing-eating contest at the (185 Wisconsin Ave. NW) will get free wings after the champion is crowned. The contest starts at 12:30 p.m.
  • , which has locations in Reston, Centreville, Culpeper and Fairfax in Virginia and Ellicott City, Frederick, Glen Burnie and Towson in Maryland, offers a half-dozen wings of any style for $5.
  • All participating locations are offering all-you-can-eat wings for $12.99 (boneless) and $14.99 (bone-in).

DC software engineer serves up a better way to navigate Restaurant Week

While Restaurant Week can be a great way to check out D.C.-area restaurants, figuring out where to go can mean scrolling through hundreds of menus trying to decide where to spend your money. That’s where D.C. software engineer Adam Stambouli comes in. For years, he wanted to develop a tool that would make all that information easier to search, but he couldn’t overcome the technical hurdles. “It’s a really tough data problem that I wasn’t able to solve,” Stambouli said.
