A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman in Montgomery County, Maryland, on Monday.
Lawrence Sakkestad, 34, has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond, Montgomery County police said in a statement Tuesday.
Officers went to Sakkestad鈥檚 home on Dunstable Circle in Germantown at about 9 p.m. Monday after they got a report of an assault, police said. When Sakkestad opened the door, they said, he appeared to have been involved in an assault.
According to charging documents, Sakkestad was “covered in blood.” Inside, police found the body of a young woman who was clearly dead. The man allegedly told officers that he killed the woman with “a wrench-like implement” and a pocketknife.
The woman’s name has yet to be released. Below is a map of where police say the body was found.
