The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.11 per share.
The construction materials company posted revenue of $938.6 million in the period, topping Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $923.7 million.
Knife River expects full-year revenue in the range of $3.4 billion to $3.6 billion.
